This collection was born from a commission from a precious friend who asked me to create a piece to honor the baby she had just lost. As I prayed over this piece and that God would bring it all together perfectly for her, I began imagining an ink drawing on my handcrafted papers symbolizing connection, love, and beauty, even in the hardships and pain of life.

Weeks after finishing her piece I felt a deep desire to create more pieces, for more mamas who have suffered the same pain and loss. As I made these pieces I thought about creating a year of birth flowers, to symbolize either the conception, the passing, or the birth month of the child. I also found out which flowers symbolize and honor miscarriage and created pieces inspired by them.

I pray these pieces will bring comfort, beauty, and love to broken hearts. I pray that when they are framed and seen daily that they will allow a moment of honor and remembrence. I pray that they will help to bring beauty from the ashes.
